I see this question being asked frequently and being solved for some but I cannot see the solution. I installed from the Ubuntu repositories and I get this error when I try to add anything. I have setup chart of accounts and now am trying to set defaults but inventory and income will not give drop down lists like the other fields did. ver 1.6.9
Found a solution and applied it. I have now added warehouses but when I try to add parts it gives an internal server error. 'Cannot create Part; Inventory account does not exist! at /usr/share/ledgersmb/bin/../old/bin/ic.pl line 129. ' 'Cannot create Service; Income account does not exist! at /usr/share/ledgersmb/bin/../old/lib/LedgerSMB/Form.pm line 421. 'Cannot create Labor; Inventory account does not exist! at /usr/share/ledgersmb/bin/../old/bin/ic.pl line 157. '
Ok. My final question for the night. Having played with the checkboxes on the accounts I was able to create a summary account for inventory which I used in the defaults, but it won't seem to let me put my raw materials to my raw materials only to the summary account. I would prefer to see various categories of production in separate account heads, raw, in process and finished. What am I doing wrong?
Hi, could you share what the solution was and where you found it? I see the same error message all over the place. Thanks a lot.
Hi, See the screenshot at https://book.ledgersmb.org/1.3/full-book/images/setup-bank-account2.png The error "Inventory account does not exist" means that there is no account which has the value "Inventory" for the drop-down "Summary account for". (This leads to the value "IC" in the column "Links" of the chart of accounts overview under the menu General Journal > Chart of accounts -- see https://book.ledgersmb.org/1.3/full-book/images/setup-bank-account1.png .) Referring to the same images: The error "Income account does not exist" means that there is no account which has a checkmark "Income" on the line "Tracking items" for parts or on the line "Non-tracking items" for services. (These checkmarks can be identified in the Chart of accounts overview as "IC_income" and "IC_sale" respectively.) Did you start with a pre-defined chart of accounts which comes with the software or are you setting up your own? If it's one of the pre-defined ones, please let me know which one it is so we can fix it. Hope that helps! Regards, Erik. On Sun, Feb 23, 2020 at 6:46 PM <ste_wealth@web.de> wrote:

Hi f, On Mon, Dec 23, 2019 at 9:28 AM fmiser <fmiser(a)gmail.com> wrote: ... On our chat channel, we had someone with a similar problem just this week. I'm afraid you didn't miss anything. Rather, it's the package that's missing something, or rather a number of things: the package is missing a directory. The easiest way to fix things is to download: https://download.ledgersmb.org/f/Releases/1.6.9/ledgersmb-1.6.9.tar.gz Then untar that and from it, copy the directory ledgersmb/old/bin to /usr/share/ledgersmb/old/ (so that its path becomes /usr/share/ledgersmb/old/bin/). Please make sure the files are world readable and owned by root:root. After that, adding parts should start to work. Due to the nature of these files, it's not required to restart any services; it should start to work immediately. Hope that helps!
