Just to be sure: you did notice that LedgerSMB comes with 4 example or default charts of accounts, right? When you create a company through setup.pl, you're being asked to select the country for the Co+configuration (or Skip). Then, on the next screen (assuming you selected Australia) you get to select one of the CoAs as available in this directory: https://github.com/ledgersmb/LedgerSMB/tree/master/locale/coa/au

Are those too small? Or too elaborate? In case of the latter, it's pretty easy to trim one of them down to the bare minimum.
